KONP - Newport Municipal Airport, Oregon coast, US.
Newport Municipal Airport - KONP is a general aviation facility located about 3 miles south of the city of Newport, on the beautiful central Oregon coast. Besides the usual visual approach, KONP also has RNAV and ILS instrument approaches available during bad and foggy weather.
The airport is home to a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter detachment and has daily UPS & Fedex Express flights from Portland. There is also a small Fedex Express hub located in the former FBO building. Lifeflight has a permanent helicopter based at the newer FBO facility.
I decided to add scenery to this airport since the FS2020 default version does not have any airport buildings (except for a few generic buildings/hangars at the south end of the field). I did this for my own enjoyment and decided to share it with all of you.
UPDATE: Version 1.20
1) Runways in both directions have correct glide slope indicator lights (Papi4, MIRL or HIRL and REIL systems). Added correct approach lights (MALSR) to runway 16.
2) Replaced all taxiways with their real world taxiway lettering (per airport chart), and installed all new taxiway signs with the correct identification.
3) Revised all aircraft parking and placed fuel parking spot to correct location.
4) Placed all taxiway lights by hand.
5) Removed stands of trees at the end of runways 34 & 20.
6) Added 3 additional Hangars per real world.
7) Adjusted static aircraft & helicopters.
UPDATE: Version 1.10
Version 1.10 Corrects major issues created by sim update 5 (SU5), items fixed include,
1) Replaced deleted buildings and scenery.
2) Fixed building out of alignment.
3) Replaced hangar with LOD issues
4) In the process, I replaced all the FS2020 default hangars at the south end of the airport with SDK hangars.
Improvements: version 1.0
1) Removed and replaced huge and out of place default tower/beacon.
2) Added all buildings including hangars, assorted other structures, fences, people and scenery.
3) Placed the correct number of hangars and other buildings and objects in their proper location.
4) Added runway 16 approach light bridge.
5) Installed airport night lighting.
6) Repositioned one of the windsocks to its correct spot.
To make this a simple and easy install, all the enhancements I've done use only the default objects, buildings etc. built into the SDK/MSFS2020. In order to make the two large hangars look as close to reality (the Coast Guard and airport fixed-base operator (FBO) hangars), I combined different default structures into one. In my opinion, they turned out very nice.
Installation:
Unzip and take the downloaded folder "airport-konp-newport-municipal" and place it into your FS2020 Community folder. Once installed, the airport will be highlighted with a plug in icon in the FS2020 "world map".

Love this. These little gems in Oregon make everything better. Asobo hardly bothered modifying these airports. You did a great job!
I can confirm that it works with SU7

Excellent job and thank you for your attention to the Oregon Coast. I live in Coos Bay and I’m really hoping you're planning to do a much needed and improved version of KOTH (Southwest Oregon Regional Airport) in North Bend. It caters to a lot of corporate jet traffic for golfers playing at the Bandon Dunes, as well as the USCG Air Station Sector North Bend. A new tower and terminal were built in the last 15 years, and if you can do bridges, KOTH overlooks the Conde McCullough Memorial Bridge which is named after the man that designed most all the bridges along Highway 101. The bridge is very scenic and an icon of the area. Microsoft has never done it any justice in present or past versions of FS. I can provide pictures of the airport and bridge if your interested in rebuilding this historic airport, originally built by the US Navy as a training base during WWII. Thanks again for your work, and I look forward to your future projects! 1st Cav - HOOAH!

Thanks for appreciating my efforts, means a lot. I just finished doing and uploading Florence Municipal Airport (6s2) to this site, so that leaves me time to start working on KOTH, but it will take me some time. I was thinking of trying to do some of the bridges along highway 101 on the Oregon coast, but there is no photogrammetry (google or bing) for them and I do not know anything about 3D modeling using programs like "Blender". I was an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army, but not in the 1st Cav. However, my men and I always enjoyed being transported either in a UH-1 "huey" or later on in a UH-60 "Blackhawk". FIDO!

I appreciate you asking me to enhance an airport for you, but I'm working on some other projects and want to focus my attention on airports along the Oregon coast. If I decide to do S31, I'll let you know. Thanks for the kind comments.

Wow! Beautiful Job! Love the result you achieved by combining default SDK structures! You clearly captured the character of the main ops facility.
Hey pilots! This is a great destination on the Oregon Coast! Lots of fine dining and other attractions in and near Newport! Excellent $200 run for a day trip!
My brother lives just down the coast just N of Yachats and I have been to KONP several times! Thank you. Now I have a closer airport than Eugene, and he is an OSU grad and refuses to pick me up in Eugene! LOL!
