N403XV - "Abraham Lincoln"
This BAe 146-200 (N403XV) was nicknamed "Abraham Lincoln" and first flew with Presidential Airways in 1986.
This aircraft was featured at the 1986 Farnborough Air Show and flew in a four-aircraft formation for show attendees.
This livery is intended to be a true-to-life rendering of this aircraft's first livery.A custom cabin is included. N403XV featured 5-abrest seating (not 6-abrest); maybe JustFlight can accommodate this cabin configuration in the future.
All repaints included in this download were made using the official Bae 146 PaintKit provided by JustFlight and all design work is by HangarXV.
I welcome any suggestions to improve this repaint or requests for other Presidential Airways aircraft.
PRESIDENTIAL AIRWAYS
Presidential Airways (XV) launched low-cost, high-service flights from its Washington Dulles International Airport hub (IAD) in October of 1985. Initially operating an all 737-200 feet, Celebrating the airlines brand, each aircraft was named after a US president. Presidential added several BAe 146-200s to meet staunch competition from United, Continental, and New York Air--all of whom were competing to establish IAD as their hub. With the merger of Continental, PeoplExpress, and New York Air in 1987, Presidential decided to serve as "Continental Express" providing feeder service. Unfortunately, Continental's commitments to a hub at Dulles hub started to fade. Presidential decided to switch to providing feeder service to United as "United Express" by 1988. Strained by years of competition and balancing mainline needs, Presidential ceased operations in 1989. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_Airways_(scheduled)
