It's time to make a splash! We have more and more float planes in this sim, but the few seabases provided by Asobo don't have any parking spot. Which means: there is no simple way to start our waterly adventures in cold and dark. Or there was no way... Because this time is past!
You want to go to the North Pole? Fly along the Mississippi river? Explore the French or Spanish coasts? Make a tropical adventure in Hawaii? Try to take off on the Seine in the middle of Paris with the Hercules H-4? Visit "my" town of Melun? Plan some beautiful trips in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, etc.?
It took me time to wander the surface of the Earth, but all of this is here: The Ha Long bay, The Loch Ness, Dubai and it's "World", Glen Canyon Dam over the Colorado River, The Thames in London and the Hudson River of course... Some incredibly beautiful lakes stuck between mountains on the edge of Nepal, in Canada or in Chile. The Danube, the Elbe, the Volga, the Nile, the Amazon River, etc. ... All of this is covered! What are you waiting for?
I placed 100 water airports all over the world. Each airport has 2 parking spots for cold and dark starts. 50 of these airports are onto the sea, next to important cities. And 50 of them are placed onto lakes or rivers: Somewhere in remote and magnificent landscapes. And somewhere in the middle of cities.
There are two versions of this mod, when you click on download. Just pick the one you prefer:
- Main file: version with lights on the runway's edges, so you can easily spot the location from the sky and by night/bad weather.
- "NOLIGHTS" file: not a single light or buoy. No visual clue about where you're supposed to land. The landscape stays untouched.
About the ICAOs of these airports:
- The "Sea airports" have ICAOs between SB00 and SB49 (This pack) and SB50 to SB99 (Pack 2)
- The "Rivers and lakes airports" have ICAOs between RB00 and RB49 (This pack) and RB50 to RB99 (Pack 2)
Here is the map of (almost) all the 200 airports from pack 1 and 2: https://www.bing.com/maps?osid=013ca99d-b859-439c-b2ae-f53c40058cdc&cp=45.677451~5.886796&lvl=16&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027 with their ICAO codes too.
I had to remove a few locations from Bing Maps to be able to share this collection. So don't worry if there are only 195 airports visible. You'll definitely get 100 with pack 1 and another 100 with pack 2.
Have some great flights!

I know. I've added the locations from the pack 2 which I want to release hopefully today... But I've noticed that some locations (I don't know which, yet) are messing the complete thing.
Like, for instance, when you add coordinates in Russia, the whole thing is then unavailable for share. And Bing maps doesn't tell me. I had to figure out by myself. So, among the 100 locations I've added yesterday (none in Russia) there must be at least one (maybe more) which is breaking everything! ... Now I need to find and remove it.
But don't worry, I'm on it :) I just hoped Microsoft could communicate clearly about which countries work and which break everything.

Thanks for this great mod, seaplanes and float planes are so much more engaging now!

That link to the Bing map doesn't work for me😕

Hi! Yes, I've just replied to "knack" above you. It's due to Microsoft non explicit rules that I have to figure out myself... and to the fact that I've started adding the locations of Pack 2.
Hopefully I will have fixed it in a few hours.

I like the idea of this mod but I'll be sticking with the older version. Lights and/or buoys have no place on a vast majority of water runways IRL. I hope that's just a temporary thing and they will be removed

I'll update this pack soon with a better positionning of my custom buoys (even if they're are still not visible from a distance).
I understand your point and I'll add the "no lights" version too, for people more interested into realism than convenient night flights. And I'll do the same for the pack 2 (probably available in 24-ish hours).

How is pack #2 coming along?

It's funny that you are writing about pack #2... I selected the 100 new locations and set them up the last 3 days!
Tomorrow (depending on the time I have) I will make a bit of tuning, take the screenshots, write the text... And maybe upload it on flightsim.to :)
(but it's more likely that it will be on sunday! I'll do my best anyway!)

Have a strange one. EGRT (not listed as being part of your update) is showing as a seaplane base now, even though it's on land. I'll load up the sim without your mod and try again, but it seems to have modified an existing mod of the airport I have.

I've got a no-brainer suggestion, if no one has made it yet: right smack in the middle of Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong! Maybe one in Macau and Guangzhou too, as there is no seaplane access anywhere in the region.

Good ideas, I'll include all three! Thanks :)

Thank you for all your hard work. Made a donation. 😊 Slight typo Canberra Molonglo River. Not a big deal. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot, for the message and donation. I'll fix the typo when I update this pack with "runways" lights (hopefully, soon-ish).
If you have any idea about what locations I should add in pack #2, feel free to suggest me 😊👍

Thank you for your job. It had to be done. Could you add Biscarosse, on the lake with the same name, wich is an historical french water airport?

Sure, I'm always in for more locations in France ;)

This is awesome! Thanks very much. The utter lack of water ports is a real issue in msfs - especially since so many float planes are in the game now.
If you want suggestions for another pack, here's mine. Float planes (with a few exceptions) tend to be smaller range aircraft. I would choose one area and saturate that with water bases. For example, the Greek islands of the Aegean Sea, or the numerous Indonesian islands north of the Banda Sea. That way the planes have multiple destinations they can reach. Plus it would fantastic for something like Neofly.
In any event. Thanks again for your work. It's much appreciated.

Thanks for the message. Regarding the fact that seaplane are generally small, I agree. But I don't really want to saturate any location. After all, all you need is a take off place. Then you can land anywhere as long as it's water 😁
So I'm more interesting in spreading these water airports more globally, to beautiful places (urban or natural). That way, it gives more options to people (and to me!)

Hi, thanks for your work... but is any marine base in the right location? I see Belfast and Arcachon in Brazil with Little nav map (icao SB).
I didn't respect the ICAO standard. I used SB for "Sea Base" and RB for "River Base". Followed by two digits, since all these were available.
