Improvement mod for the Aeroplane Heaven DC-3 included with any version of MSFS.

This project aims to provide a more realistic experience when flying the legendary Douglas DC-3 in MSFS.

Current improvements (work in progress) :

reworked flight and engine model
replaced windshield windows detail map, and main instrument panel with more accurate and high res textures
custom auto-rich/lean mixture system
default camera position adjusted to a more usable position for most setups
instrument views reworked with five more added for a total of ten (list available under notes at the bottom of this page)
fuel consumption adjusted to fit real-world numbers
custom engine start-up logic
manual supercharger control
carb heat indications fixed
oil temperature and pressure reworked
openable cockpit door
cold&dark and quick start switches replaced with Avionics Master and Beacon Light switches.
heading select enabled for the retrofitted versions
auxiliary tank fix
improved start-up smoke effects
cockpit quick-views fix
adds a heat blur effect to the engine exhaust
fuel booster pump sound events corrected
internal cockpit lighting rework
initial external lights rework (credit to @Delta2k5)
PR, DE, JP, ES, and IT localization fixes (by LincolnCFCruz, St54Kevin, cubna4, nataliacd1972 )
... plus some minor tweaks and fixes with more to come in the future.

Installation :

Copy or extract the content of the archive to your community folder.

Drop by the Duckworks discord for further assistance, and bug or testing reports. If you wish to have a version with a specific feature removed, also feel free to ask on discord, where you can also grab more previous releases.

*Notes:
To be able to use the auto/sperry pilot you need to put the engine pump selector (blue lever) in the forward position.

Thank you for your continued work on this mod. It really does wonders for the DC-3, and is much appreciated. Just got the blue hydraulics lever/Autopilot link sorted out, by the way!
Once you have gone as far as you can with the DC-3, is there any chance you could then look at the Asobo DHC4 Caribou, and add some more functionality to it ?

Question: Right Aux tank does not feed fuel to the engine. Left Aux works OK, though. Am I doing something wrong? By the way, turning pumps on does not resolve the problem.

Hi, firstly this is a great mod making a huge difference in the enjoyment of the dc3 aircraft. I do have an issue with the retrofit autopilot. Woks fine without the mod but has heading bug set issues has well as following a gps track with mod installed. (Blue handle set forward) Wondering if there is a solution?

Just got this and loving it! However I'm having a hard time getting the interactive checklist to work. I noticed in the description of this mod it says custom startup logic.

Does that mean it's interfered with the interactive checklist? For example the "master ignition" entry in the checklist doesn't highlight anything when you click the eye. Is there a new startup checklist we need?

Awesome mod! I am having one issue tho. It seems like under normal operations with the CG within limits the plane requires a lot of nose up trim which is fine. The problem is that the autopilot does not use the trim and can't pull up hard enough to counteract the nose down. So every time i engage the autopilot the plane will just nose towards the ground unless I put the CG unrealistically aft to counteract the nose down... It would be nice to maybe fix this?

Can you add fire detection warning lights, cabin heater controls and fire warning lights and oil dilution? What you have done so far is really nice and makes the plane even better. Super fun plane to learn about and fly. Thanks.

Thanks for your continued upgrade on this and nice to see the pink checkers has gone however it now seems to be visible on the exteror model when looking at the cockpit.

I like this mod a lot, but I have a small problem. Whenever I do a flight on my virtual airline where flight reports are sent using ACARS, a stall is detected by ACARS. It may be me just flying differently, but I wonder if there is any change in the mods flight model that makes it more likely to trigger that stall detection.

That item is on the wishlist for a few so hopefully, an option for that will be added. For now, a dirty workaround for the DME is hovering your mouse over the VOR needles if you have tooltips enabled you will get the DME readout in there.

Can the color of the trim wheel be changed (or kept the same for that matter) with the trim increments and numbers, along with the pointer , being white or some color that can be seen easily from the pilot position when looking down? At present you have to center and lower the view substantially to see where trim is actually set.

Thanks for leaving a review and for the kind words! I love the DHC4 but it being a premium aircraft creates some issues for modding, and besides that, for now, the DC-3 and FBW already take all the free time I can spare away most days. But never say never.

Hey, thanks for your review! There is no cross-feed on this version, but both engine fuel sources can be selected, if you are still experiencing this issue you can drop by our discord so we can troubleshoot this further.

After solving the pink texture there is the following problem.
The automatic pilot no longer works. Has anyone else had this problem?

I noticed yesterday and today that manual startup is again impossible using the procedures you introduced months ago. Is anyone else having that issue. Flying with DC3Airways multi-player yesterday others had the same issue.

The realistic startup option is possible down to -30 degrees Celsius OAT. Any lower than that, it does become impossible. At that point, you need to use the QS option to bypass realistic startup until engine covers and heaters are implemented.

After installing , zzz-duckworks-enhacement-dc3-v0.4.21_N8jyi.zip , I got a pink cocpit interieur.

I had the same. Uninstal the mod, but also the plane from MSFS marketplace. Restart your game. And download again the plane from the MSFS market store, and then, shut off your game one last time to instal the mod again. That worked for me.

Hi Guys,
I am afraid the pink textured cockpit is still there. Also when I try to go to your Discord server for the texture update it keeps telling me it needs to verify my email and then when i give it the address it tells me i already have that account and i can get no further. Can you provide another way to get the texture fix please.

Having same issue with the pink/purple checkerboards all over the cockpit after latest MSFS update 1.34.16.0 and updated dc3 version 1.2.3.

Otherwise its one of my favorites with this mod!
