San Diego Montgomery Field (KMYF) Surroundings Enhancement
This scenery mod enhances the area around Montgomery Field (KMYF) in San Diego, CA. It is NOT the airport itself, but the surrounding neighborhoods.
The default MSFS scenery in San Diego has excessive and overgrown trees and bushes, canyons have excess vegetation, roads are clogged and the use of Photogrammetry turns palm trees and other trees into strange obelisks and pointed objects.
This scenery enhancement does the following:
- reduces and resizes exising trees and bushes by modifying the local biome
- removes excess vegetation from canyons
- removes trees from major roads, freeways and parking lots
- cleans out commercial and residential areas
- removes PG (Photogrammetry) palm trees and other objects throughout
Version 1.0
Changes tree density and height to be more realistic. Cleans up the major roads and freeways surrounding KMYF: Aero Dr, Balboa Ave, Kearney Villa Rd, Ruffin Rd, 163 and I-15. Also cleans up the commercial areas east of the airport. Improves visibility of the hotel in the southwest corner of the airport. See attached development image for current progress on the project.
This is a work-in-progress mod that will continually expand around the airport. Later versions will extend in all directions so that approaches, departures, circuits and flyovers of KMYF are more realistic and enjoyable.
Download and unzip, placing the resulting folder in your community folder.
This looks really nice, thank you! It appears it probably plays nicely with the excellent https://flightsim.to/file/5856/montgomery-gibbs-exec-airport-taxiway-fix-and-many-more , could you confirm?

Yes, it does. I have KMYF installed as well and did the work on my mod around the airport, careful not to overlap or cause any conflicts. Thanks for your interest! I will be expanding the work in all directions coming soon.

Thanks and nice work. If people have to fix all of this vegetation, water and bridges all over the world, we are going to have a LOT of folders in our community folders. Maybe this would be better as a worldwide effort condensed into one app/program/whatever. Like Aerosoft could maybe do it or someone.

Agreed! Presumably MS/Asobo will continue to refine their map data, improve regional biomes, fix palm trees (the biggest culprit when it comes to those ugly PG towers) and unclog roads. Or maybe it will come with improved integration of Google Maps data. Meanwhile, there are some payware mods that do a good job globally, but are not that fine-tuned. Some other freeware attempt to do things on a large scale, but then those mods end up conflicting with more local ones. Another solution to clutter would be subdirectories inside Community. We'll see. Until then, I think small localized cleanups like this are useful. And fun to make.
