Default Wind Turbine replacement
This mod overrides default Microsoft Flight Simulator wind turbine (windmill)
Default MSFS Wind turbines (aka wind generator, windmill) are HUGE
With this mod I have made them a litlle bit smaller (75 meter vs 90 meter)
I have also added some more details on the top nacelle, and flashing lights for better collision avoidance
new features:
the turbine now turns into the wind (udwind style wind turbine). The turning is smooth, takes 20/30 seconds for a 360 degree turn
the blades are not syncronized anymore (each turbine has a random starting point)
If you want to see them, go where wind turbines are, like Palm Springs :)
There shouln't be any FPS loss, modelling is pretty simple with lods

KNOWN ISSUE:
- over each default windturbines there is a floating Asobo style orb light, since my turbines are smaller than the default ones , the orb will float 15 meters above the windturbines
- when wind changes, because of gust, the animation will restart, but because of the "random" start, the blade will skip some frames, if you like the mod but can't stand the jump,
in the .xml inside the model folder remove each typeParam="Random" property

I have been using this addon for quite some time and think it is really better than the standard windmills from Asobo. However, I have a small comment: In strong winds they spin like crazy. In real live, the speed is limited in strong winds (braked). Is it possible to adjust that or is that a limitation of Asobo?
BTW: Your addon in the community folder is called mamudesign-windmil-replacement, but here you offer it as Default Wind Turbine replacement. This is very confusing! To check for updates I always search for the name and that's why I couldn't find it (anymore). That made me think it had disappeared from Flightsim.to......
Perhaps it would be useful to adjust this during an update?

I'm aware that someone else is working on Wind Turbines, my friend Puffin @we love Vfr has a surprise including various turbine models with different heights, let's see if we can squeeze in the right code to obtain the movement randomisation!

I love this mod.
I wonder if you were able to ignore wind speed changes that are less than a certain amount it would reduce the number of times the blade animation restarts and therefore appear a bit smoother?

Since SU 10 I have only stuttering with the mindmills, is this only your mod or an default asobo problem? It looks so good before .... 😭

Sorry to say that the issue is with mod (the part where it adds randomization do the blade start position), in su10 they changed something in the animation blending, so I have to find way to solve!

Great add-on. But recently I bought the new XP12 to upgrade 11 and notice a rather large difference in the smoothness of the animated rotating blades in each sim. Is there anything that can be done to increase the smoothness of the blade rotation in MSFS because at present the difference across the sims is considerable?

In msfs animations speed is limited (and fixed) to 18 fps (could be half or double, but those options still don't work)
It's too slow for a proper blade animation
That's unfortunate, but msfs is always in development so hope for a change in the future

Dear mamu82,
thank you so much for this wonderful modification! I waited for something like this for a very long time. Perfect. However, I also see some frames missing during rotation which makes the blades jump sometimes, as well as big red light orbs floating above most of the turbines at night. Maybe both topics can be fixed? That would be a dream! I am on SU9, so no SU10 Beta.

at the moment I have no idea how to fix the frames skips (and in SU10 beta the problem is more serious!)
I think I can remove the the lights, have to check, maybe part of a future update with more variation for the windsocks

(I've put this project aside for the moment because of other stuff, you know, but I want to keep working on it, so from me or from Puffin (we love VFR) the windfarms will have some attention!)

I only noticed this since joining the SU10 beta. If you look up close, the animation is missing a couple of frames, and in combination with what Asobo considers "gusts", ie. variable wind, the animation is spazzing out.

GREAT ADDON! I just have one observation:
The light's blink are in sync (and they look huge), it looks particularly unrealistic over a vast field of windmills. Is there a way to XML this?

no, it is not possible
the rotation into the wind requires creating an animation directly in the model itself, so a new model is required
If you like the default model because it is higher,
I have been requested for higher windturbine since in Deutschland they are installing high power structures (requiring a higher pole and longer propeller)

I've installed but not had chance to try it yet, but the huge wind turbines have irritated me from the start. Looking forward to checking your mod out on my next flight. I also use Puffinflights we love VFR mod BTW and it makes a huge difference for me.

We all love Puffin mod 🥰. For sure this new windturbine model Is smaller than the default! Asobo was not totally wrong with them, but in lot of places Wind generators are still in the 1.5 Megawatts range, so 60/70 Meter height
