You will undertake your journey in the DA40, a fantastic single engine aircraft with an unbeatable field of view.

Download and Install:

  • The tour is divided into 3 packages due to limitations of MSFS (read below). Each package is an independent bush trip. Parts 1, 2 and 3 must be completed in numerical order to successfully complete the entire bush trip.
    • Unfortunately in MSFS the bush trip legs are not separate as far as text-to-speech function is concerned. This means that if you fly close to a POI from a future leg the TTS function would trigger. Due to the fact that there are two route overlaps in this bush trip (one at Jasper and one at Golden) I have had to split parts 1 & 2 into smaller/separate parts.
  • To install the bush trip, unzip the file and COPY AND PASTE the contents to your COMMUNITY FOLDER.
  • Download the README & FLIGHT PLANS file which includes:
    •  - README pdf which contains crucial information about this bush trip.
    • - A folder with each individual flight plan in LNMPLN format (compatible with Little Navmap)

*** IMPORTANT ***

  • Text-to-speech function is required for this bush trip to function properly.

Go to General Options -> Sound -> ATC Text-to-Speech Settings -> SET TO AZURE

You should hear audio introduction messages upon immediately loading into the first leg of each of the three parts. If you do not hear an introductory message upon immediately loading in then Azure is not working correctly. Make sure you have your text-to-speech set to Azure and restart the flight. If Azure disconnects mid-flight the sim will use default text-to-speech software installed on your computer if available. Default TTS can sound awful so it is up to you whether to continue or restart the flight/sim to get Azure working again.

  • The introduction messages will only play the first time you load the bush trip. If you didn’t hear it you can reset your bush trip by restarting the flight or by deleting the save progress.

Exit the sim and go to: Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe -> LocalState -> MISSIONS -> ACTIVITIES -> Delete the appropriate save file for your bush trip

  • Banff Airfield is not represented in MSFS due to it being for emergency use only in real life. The Banff Airport add-on from Misfit79 is mandatory for this bush trip to function correctly.

Please note: this is NOT optional!

Information & Known Issues:

  • This is a VFR flight which means it has not been designed with any autopilot functions in mind. Many waypoints would take you into the side of a mountain if you tried to fly directly to them. You are expected to listen to/read the instructions to safely navigate to the next waypoint.
  • Text-to-speech can disconnect if internet connection is too low or due to server issues. Please read the “IMPORTANT” section above regarding Azure.
  • The flight will only end when the battery is switched off. If you switch off the battery and the flight doesn’t end you are most likely not  in the airport detection zone. This can happen if you are too far from the  runway. Restart the aircraft and move closer to the runway.
  • You will begin with 50% fuel at the start of all three parts. It is up to you to refuel when required during the course of your bush trip. This can be done in two ways:
    • 1. By opening the fuel window from the tool bar at the top of the screen
    • 2. By key binding “repair and refuel”

Go to Main Menu -> General Options -> Controls -> Change filter from  “assigned” to “all” -> search for “repair”

  • The ATC window is available from the tool bar menu at the top of the screen.
  • Live weather and time is selected by default. This can be changed in-game from the Weather window from the tool bar menu at the top of the screen.
  • If you want to use a different aircraft: activate developer mode in options then load the bush trip. Change aircraft with the option “aircraft selector”.

Final comments…

If you have any issues or queries I would appreciate it if you could give me the opportunity to help you. This bush trip has been tried and tested many times and I hope for you to enjoy a very polished final product. That being said we are all running MSFS on different systems and there are bound to be issues that crop up for other people. I will do my best to help you if you leave a comment.

Constructive feedback is always appreciated as I hope to expand and improve on what I have already, starting with “Part 4 - Gold Rush”

This bush trip has been a labour of love from start to finish. It has taken hours and hours of research, planning, coding and testing. If you enjoyed this bush trip and would like to show your appreciation there is a PayPal link below.
